I work on applied questions in public economics, mainly with household microdata and parliamentary text. Current topics include pension design and household saving, the gender dimension of energy poverty and of budget oversight, and the effect of AI on university choices.

  • Generative AI and the Demand for University Majors: Evidence from Türkiye’s Centralized Placement System
    Did the arrival of ChatGPT change which degrees students want to study? Using Türkiye’s centralized placement system, where demand for every undergraduate programme is observed directly, the project links programmes (2019–2024) to how exposed their typical occupations are to generative AI and asks whether demand shifted away from more exposed programmes after November 2022.

  • Does the Legislature Scrutinise the Gender Dimension of the Budget? Measuring Oversight in the Turkish Parliament’s Plan and Budget Committee, 2010–2025
    With Reyhan Karababa.
    Uses the transcripts of the Turkish Parliament’s Plan and Budget Committee (2010–2025) to measure how often, with how much fiscal specificity and within which frames MPs question the gender dimension of the budget. It codes, speech by speech, the oversight activity that institutional indicators do not capture.
